When it is turned on it makes clicking noises and hang on boot selection menu. The F2 or F12 keys do no work. The only key combination that works is alt+ctrl+del.

When I remove the hard disk and reboot it allows me enter BIOS setup (F2 key). On the BIOS screen none of the keys on the keyboard work except escape key. If I boot it with a bootable cd and the hard disk removed, it boots from it but the keyboard is frozen out.

Please help.

The clicking noise and boot selection menu issue suggests that the HDD has probably failed. Where did the bootable CD come from? Jack E/NJ

@JackE, I did suspect that the HDD has failed. I ordered a SATA to usb cable on ebay so that I can check the HDD on another machine. I downloaded the boot cd from hiren.info
    Thanks for your help.
