The Special Keys on my Gateway LT4009u Laptop have stopped working

The special keys are now only the "normal" F-1 to F-12 keys. The main problem is now I cannot switch to wireless. My wireless adapter is working and the wireless connection shows up in the network center, so no problem there. There must be some software switch I'm not aware of the "activate" or "re-activate" the Special Keys. This occurred after a reboot. Any ideas? Help!

IronFly and all: I just somehow found a system restore point that I used and the laptop is now back to working as intended. I think the whole problem stemmed from a MS-Win Update that will not load or complete; it keeps saying "failed" I'm going to "hide" this update in hopes that this situation will stop. I'll check for suggestions as we go along. I wish I could help some more on this situation, but I'm just stumbling along ... ;-)

OK, IronFly - tried that but the Wireless (F-3) button still won't switch into the wireless device.  Still have good wireless connection shown as to strength and previous connection, but this software switch isn't working. Do you know of any way to work with the now installed Launch Manager?

normally launch manager will autostart, so you don't need to do anything else...that's a strange behaviour, Do the other Fn+F keys work?

Two of the keys still work: the two that control the brightness of the panel. None of the others work. Right now I'm trying to do a system restore the oldest point restore has, but now the system is "stuck" in the "System Restore is initializing..." and not moving forward. UGH!!

IronFly: if this continues as is, do you know where I could down load a re-installer for the entire system for this laptop? Before all this happened, it had a disc partition that had all of this on the HDD, but now that's gone too.
