Hey guys. So as the title says I can't recover my Chromebook. I was just watching a youtube video when the whole OS froze except for the audio, so I hard powered off and turned it back on to get the "Chrome OS is missing or damaged". So i figured whatever, I've recovered my Windows laptop countless times without issue so I thought I would create the usb recovery tool and reinstall Chrome OS piece of cake. Unfortunately during recovery it says "an error has occurred" and so I'm stuck. I've tried a Sandisk usb and a Lexar SD card and neither worked. Does this mean the SSD is dead or something? I've only had this laptop a year, of course one month after warranty. This is ridiculous if the SSD died after only one year, WOW. Unless there is something else to try? Is there at least another tool I can download that can test the parts in the laptop to let me know what part is malfunctioning. Any help would be appreciated. If I have to buy the SSD where can I buy the one in my laptop besides ebay? I tried looking up the SSD on amazon and didn't see it, perhaps I missed it though. I at least wanted to get an idea of how much that might cost. It's the 32gb version. Thanks.

Might be simply a transient charge corruption maintained by the battery. Unfortunately, this model doesn't seem to have a battery reset pinhole. So I'd be tempted to remove the bottom cover --- 18 screws --- and disconnect the battery from the mainboard for an hour or so. After removing the screws, you might have to use a credit card to pry the bottom cover loose starting on the side with the card reader. Jack E/NJ

I have the same issue, except on a Acer Chromebase 24.  I am about 4 months out of warranty.  I sent in a repair form.  I received an e-mail,  We have received your request for repair; however, we are unable to complete your request online. The standard fee for out of warranty repair of this model is currently $309.99 USD and will need to be pre-authorized on a credit or debit card prior to confirming service. If you would like to setup repair, you may reach us by phone at 1(866)658-2237 Mon-Fri 8am-5pm CST. We look forward to assisting you further.

Are you for real...this is an $800.00 computer, about 4 months out warranty, how can there be a standard fee if you haven't even look at yet?
What kind of warranty do I get with this??

I'm gonna guess that covers diagnosing & fixing whatever the costliest failure is for that particular model --- probably close to the going rate & warranty for a refurbished wholesale unit. Just a guess though. Jack E/NJ

You have a totally different issue. I suggest that you start your own thread since this one is nearly two years old! Registering usually involves you also  entering the machine's serial number id (SNID) if it's less than a year old. Click on the ACER worldwide link at the bottom of this page. Click your country. Then click on the support link in the website that pops up. Enter your machines SNID and tr to register again. Jack E/NJ
