How do I dual boot Ubuntu on Acer switch one 10. I pressed F12 on startup and selected my usb containing live usb but it won't boot. It directly boots into windows.

Edit: I bought the 500gb model. I want to install Ubuntu on that 500gb hard disk.

You have to disable secure boot from BIOS. It is unavailable to change, but you will be able to disable it once you create a supervisor password.
Always post the following characterisitcs of the device:
    -Model number
    -Part number(not required, but helpful)
    -CPU
    -GPU
    -Operating system

Helios 300 and Nitro 5 users DO NOT update the BIOS to version 1.22 if you don't want the keyboard's backlight to turn off after 30 seconds even when the device is plugged in.

I think he might have a Cherry Trail computer.......but if you want to help him I think you might have to use google translate to copy/paste and the link below.  I'm not 100 percent sure he has cherry trail though.  And I don't know the difference between a Switch One 10 and One 10.  It's hard to keep models straight so I could be completely off base.  Not sure if wifi will be a problem for his model or if they they two different models.  Good luck!

I have the switch one SW1-011 model. I went to the security tab. There is no option to set supervisor password but I am able to disable secure boot from within the secure boot menu option.

I am supposed to use the micro USB slot in the tablet right? I read somewhere that the usb port on the keyboard doesn't work for booting.

I am in a really bad situation right now. I wanted to install 64 bit Ubuntu which is supported by the 64 bit atom x5 z8300 processor but the uefi it seems is 32 bit.
Unfortunately 32 bit Ubuntu iso doesn't support uefi.

Even if I manage to install 64 bit Ubuntu there is no guarantee that the drivers will work.

Any help will be greatly appreciated. If I am not able to get Ubuntu working i will have to return the laptop.

Sorry, I can't help.  For me personally, I would return it.  The Acer Aspire S13 seems to be a popular model in the Ubuntu community.

It isn't impossible to install 64bit Ubuntu, when having 32bit UEFI(i don't know who though this is a good idea), but it is likely that some of the I/O may stop working. It will take me some time until I find the command lines for configuring the boot drive(I am not sure if it will work either as I am not the creator either)

Edit: I couldn't find the file containing the scripts/commands(silly me) :s:'(.

I did some research to see if I can find something and I found it, at least I think that is the right one: https://gist.github.com/franga2000/2154d09f864894b8fe84
You can try it I hope it works.

    about this command:
    set root=(hd1,gpt5)
    linux /vmlinux root=/dev/mmcblk0p5
    initrd /initrd.img
    boot

it should be linux /vmlinuz and also this can change depending on your partition structure.
    set root=(hd1,gpt5)
    linux /vmlinux root=/dev/mmcblk0p5

I hope it will help you install ubuntu. Once you are done report back the results.

Just to add one last thing, I agree with JordanB, better return this device and get something else with 64bit UEFI :)
