What version is the HDMI port on your laptop?
Always post the following characterisitcs of the device:
    -Model number
    -Part number(not required, but helpful)
    -CPU
    -GPU
    -Operating system

Helios 300 and Nitro 5 users DO NOT update the BIOS to version 1.22 if you don't want the keyboard's backlight to turn off after 30 seconds even when the device is plugged in.

There is no way to check it, we can only guess. The minimum requirement for HDR10 or Dolby Vision is HDMI 2.0, which I doubt your laptop has. I looked for some info and found out that GTX960M supports HDMI 1.4, therefore GTX940MX doesn't support HDMI 2.0 as it is a similar class with gtx960m. To check whether your HDMI version is 1.4a or 1.4b, you can run a game at 4k(make sure all setting are set to very low) and if it goes up to 24fps then it is 1.4a and if it goes up yo 30fps then it is 1.4b.
