Multiple threads on this now. Many people are experiencing this problem. Seems a BIOS update was pushed automatically and without confirmation from the user (absolutely insane)!

$2,000 laptop bricked. Great job Acer.
This is exactly what happened to my Predator Laptop as well, AFTER THE WINDOWS UPDATE IT IS BRICKED.
NOTE - ACER SPENDS LITERALLY NOTHING FOR SUPPORT, LOOK AT THE DRIVERS SECTION IT'S OLD UNLIKE ASUS, SAMSUNG, ETC. WHICH GIVES LATEST SUPPORT DRIVERS.

I HATE ACER, NEVER IN MY LIFE I WILL BE BUYING ANY MORE ACER PRODUCTS ALSO DISCOURAGE ANYONE IN MY CIRCLE TO SPEND THEIR HARD EARNED MONEY IN ACER PRODUCTS.

ADMINS, WANT TO DELETE THIS POST ? GO AHEAD ! WANT TO BLOCK ME FORM THE FORUM ? GO AHEAD, THESE WILL NOT MAKE THE ***** SUPPORT ANY GOOD.

I guess I'm the latest victim.  I own a G9-793 that has been VERY lightly used.  It started having the black screen issue and I was always able to get to come back.  Not now.   Nothing to the screen, nor to any other video output.   It will be considerably difficult to update a BIOS if If I can't see the screen.   Any suggestions other than using it as a boat  anchor ?

Treebyter have you tried to plug it to an external display if so does it show any image also a battery power drain could probably solve it and check the ram compartment power kill switch if its properly pressed or not add some layers of electrical tape just to make sure its properly pressed when the cover is in place and properly screwed if nothing of these work and if its still on warranty i would send it to get diagnosed as in some cases its the mobo itself thats faulty and needs to be replaced

Hi, you can try to do a BIOS recovery.

    Here's the procedure for a Predator G9-791:

First of all, download the following file (BIOS 1.11 with the correct recovery name): drive.google.com/file/d/1zsz6F6HonvnlDbOJMHi6OzpncW4GkwFX/view
    Then, do the following steps:

    1. Copy the BIOS file to an empty and with FAT16/32 formatted usb stick.
    2. Unplug the AC adapter.
    3. Plug in the USB flash disk.
    4. Press and hold <Fn> and <Esc>, and then plug in the AC adapter while still holding <Fn> and <Esc>.
    5. Press the Power button. You can now stop holding <Fn> and <Esc>.
    6. The BIOS flash should now begin, the fan will spin up and the power led should change its state.
    7. After everything is done, the notebook will shut down.

In case you have another model, please post your model here, so I can have a look.
Hi msmith123. I have the same problem  with my laptop.
    Details:
    Model Number :G9-793-79PE

I tried the process explained  but  after inserting the pen drive and starting laptop nothing happens.
i downloaded the latest BIOS from BIOS_Acer_1.14 from acer site for laptop.
I extracted the  zip file with winrar and copied all the files extracted, in a 4gb Fat32 pendrive.
I inserted and started the laptop as mentioned but didn't worked.
    The extracted file doesn't have .fd file.It has 2 files i.e. MU5DC.bin and MURDC.bin

    Please help me with this.
