Hello,

a couple of weeks ago in purchased a new Acer Aspire ES1-523 running Windows 10. On my previous laptop (HP, running windows 8.1) I never had any trouble with my wifi.
The last weeks my wifi seems to stammer at home. I notice this when Netflix suddenly cuts out, starts loading up till 97% and stays there for a while before somewhat magically resuming after a couple of minutes. Web pages also load very slowly and my download speed decreases to almost zero. The problems often resolve themselves after a couple of minutes but this is annoying. It is not a continuous problem but happens a couple of times a day. Also I do not have any problems on my phone during these episodes of stammering.
I've already tried updating my routers firmware (NETGEAR JWNR2010v5) and my wifi adapter drivers (Qualcomm Atheros QCA9377) but his didn't change anything.

Hopefully somebody here can help me!

Kind regards,
Jelle

  • Hi,
You could try a different DNS address, go to Control Panel(type control panel in start), click Network and Internet, network sharing centre, click your WiFi, click Properties, highlight Internet Protocol version 4, click Properties, select the radio button for "Use the following DNS server address".
    Google DNS: 8.8.8.8
             secondary: 8.8.4.4
    Open DNS: 208.67.222.222
       secondary: 208.67.220.220
You can use either of them.
Once you change your DNS address, go to cmd (type cmd at start), right click and select "Run as Admin",  type  ipconfig /flushdns    press enter
