Go to 'run' command(right-click on windows icon at the bottom left and select Run, or press win key+R). In run enter 'msinfo32'. In system summery look for BIOS version, if it is something less than V1.10, then you can update. You can download the BIOS from this LINK and the file can be found under the section BIOS/Firmware. Download the latest version(no need to install previous version in order to install the latest one). Make sure battery is 100% and laptop connected to charger. During the install the laptop may restart several times, so don't attempt to turn it off until it is finished installing.
Always post the following characterisitcs of the device:
    -Model number
    -Part number(not required, but helpful)
    -CPU
    -GPU
    -Operating system

Helios 300 and Nitro 5 users DO NOT update the BIOS to version 1.22 if you don't want the keyboard's backlight to turn off after 30 seconds even when the device is plugged in.

Update BIOS to latest version, if haven't done so yet. Make sure before updating that the battery is fully charged and laptop connected to charger. Report the result back here.
