Original 1TB WD Green drive was about to finally fail (after 7yrs) so bought a new 1TB WD Blue drive.
Prepped the drive (activated the partition, formatted etc) and installed in the Aspire Z5610.
Loaded the original System Restore DVDs (1-3) and the restore process completed without error.
Rebooted Aspire but on loading Windows 7 it stopped with error message:
"ERROR:  Windows cannot load. Reload System Restore to continue"
Is this being caused by new HDD hardware creating an HDD driver mismatch with the original image?
How can I overcome the problem?
Thanks

i would try with a clean HDD, that means, no partitions or format.
    I'm not an Acer employee.

    Possibly?
Although as I understand it, when restoring an *image* the entire drive is re-built in the process..?
The BIOS correctly sees the new drive, but I'm wondering if there are old drivers on the original image which are creating the incompatibility with new HDD?

    Any thoughts?

When restoring an image, the correct way is doing without any partitions or formatted HDD, just to avoid any conflict.
About drivers and HDD, in my opinion can't be the issue.
