Hi. I am trying to boot from my usb stick in order to use bitdefender rescue disk..... . so what I did so far is once in the bios, I had to create a supervisor password in order to disable the secure boot. but still my usb stick (Adata 32gb) is not shown in the boot options ? why would that be? tried with a different key and same problem. it is formated in fat32.

my bios is V1.09 Laptop is a R5-471T

pretending I now can see the usb stick, anything else I have to change in the bios in order to boot from my usb stick ?

also I would like to know how to remove this supervisor password once I'm done with it.

I sure would like to view a good tutorial for this particular bios ( didn't find the right one on youtube so far )

please help
TIA
stef

    Stef,

I don't have a R5-471T, but I was trying to use a Windows Defender offline USB, and couldn't get it to work.  I could get it to boot by disabling secure boot, but it would still hang up.  So I gave up.

Anyway, my advice is to read the Microsoft employee response in the link below.  Basically it says to create a Windows 10 USB and then use "startup repair".  After you use startup repair, your computer should boot in to windows.  And then you can use your antivirus software to scan for viruses.

    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/protect/forum/protect_defender-protect_scanning/windows-defender-remote-stuck-at-starting-windows/5b3f40f2-7e6a-4bee-9c39-2a45b1a7284d?auth=1

In your BIOS settings, you should have something called an 'F12 boot menu".  You should enable that and use that instead of trying to change your boot order.

To remove the supervisor password, go in to your BIOS settings and set a supervisor password (enter your existing supervisor password when  prompted) and then press enter (on your keyboard) two or three times to leave blank.

Don't forget to re-enable secure boot first.

    I'm not an Acer employee.
