Acer predator g9-793 makes loud buzzing noise when booted

I purchased an Acer laptop roughly six months ago, and recently it's started to make a loud buzzing and popping noise when in use. Originally, shutting down and restarting the machine would stop the sound for days or so at a time, but now the sound is almost continual from boot. What should I do?

I made a recording of the mystery noise and just the fans running for comparison's sake.

Any help at all would be appreciated.

Leraika, the noise from your laptop, sounds like it is coming from a fan. Is the noise still there, when max fan speed is off?

predrag the noise that comes from your laptop is very likely to be because of coil whining. On my laptop, I can hear the same kind of noise sometimes. There is no way to fix it. There is also no guarantee that the next laptop you get won't have the same noise.

Ven: yes, the noise occurs even when the fans are not running on max; I very rarely turn them on beyond the default.

I can start the sound's occurrence very reliably by running a game like FFXIV but it also tends to start more or less at random otherwise with no regard to system load.

The noise from second video - 'mystery noise' sounds just like a coil whine, but the loud buzzing noise from the first video doesn't sound like a coil whine. What do you feel could be causing this? I never heard this type of buzzing before and can only assume it is the fan. But if the same noise appears even when fans are not spinning fast, makes me think that it could be a coil whining and maybe both noises come from same choke. Either way, in my opinion it is better to just send the laptop to Acer for repairs, as the noise is way too loud and annoying.

The video labeled 'fan' is just what happens when I use the macro button to turn my fans to maximum - it sounds like fans whirring and not like an issue to me (the problem may be that I had my phone right up against the case so that the fans could be heard clearly to compare/contrast with the mystery noise).

Since the coil whine was something that I didn't start with and developed over time, should I be concerned that it'll affect the longevity of my machine? I just recently replaced my last laptop after a long annoying insurance/warranty fight, and I don't really want to dive into that nonsense again, but I also don't want to end up with a burnt out laptop if I ignore it.

Coil whine is not something that will damage your machine in short or long term. It is just a choke, on which the coil/s is/are a bit loose. Because of the high frequency, they vibrate and rub each other producing this kind of high pitched sound. I have it in my laptop too(from the GPU), and it appears only when the fps in game are above 100 and something.

TO EVERYONE HAVING THIS ISSUE--I FOUND A SOLUTION... The buzzing is being caused by overused RAM thanks to Windows 10. As soon as I did this solution the buzzing stopped and my laptop started performing better. I went with solution 2 @ this link. https://windowsreport.com/standby-memory/

essentially you dump the memory held in standby that isnt being used and create a task to do this every 5 minutes. I have not had the buzzing since I started doing this. Let me know if this works for anyone else!!

ACER PLEASE PIN THIS AND LINK IT TO QUESTIONS ABOUT THIS ISSUE!!
