Hi friends. I recieved the PH317-51-7578 for my birthday, and I am seriously regretting getting it, because of the issues i keep having. I foundout by contacting Acer on twitter, that the biggest size SSD that this laptop can handle for it's primary drive is 512GB, so I bought a 500GB ssd, this one to be specific, from Western Digital, WDS500G2B0B.
I install it, it's not my first rodeo, i know how to change hard drives and other components. i start my laptop, with my Windows 10 USB inserted into the USB 3.0 port. And I don't get any option to install Windows, or do anything for that matter, all I get is a message that says "No Bootable Media." was I mislead by customer support, does this gaming laptop not support any change in SSD?

about installation USB media not be recognised, try this:

    1) download a windows 10 iso using Microsof tool:
    http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=691209
select the proper windows 10 version (the same installed on your laptop) and choose to save it as iso file when prompted
    2) download Rufus:
    http://rufus.akeo.ie/?locale=en_US
plug your USB flash drive, run Rufus then:
select ISO image from the dropdown menu near "Create a bootable disk"
click on the little icon on the right and browse to the windows 10 downloaded iso file
as Partitions scheme select "GPT partition scheme for UEFI"
    as File system select "FAT32"
    click on Start
wait until it finish, then uplug your USB flash drive
    3) backup all your personal data
    4) Reboot to BIOS, pressing F2 at boot, then press F9 to load default and F10 to save and exit
    5) plug your USB flash drive and at boot press F12 (if F12 doesn't work, see if it auto-recognise the USB flash drive or press F2 to enter BIOS and enable F12 boot menu under BOOT tab), choose the USB flash drive as bootable device

Dear IronFly. I don't know what I did, ut obviously something wrong. I keep getting weird errors, I want to try to re-install that W10 again. I insert the usb, and restart my laptop, ut it doesn't give me an option to oot from us. I have tried pressing F2, F8, F9, F12, DEL, during startup, but nothing seems to ring up a choice to boot from usb. I re imaged that USB stick, with your instructions, using Rufus. what am I doing wrong? How do I begin re-installation?

You have enable enable the boot menu with F12 from BIOS. After that you will be able to open it after you press f12 on start up.
Always post the following characterisitcs of the device:
    -Model number
    -Part number(not required, but helpful)
    -CPU
    -GPU
    -Operating system

Helios 300 and Nitro 5 users DO NOT update the BIOS to version 1.22 if you don't want the keyboard's backlight to turn off after 30 seconds even when the device is plugged in.

enter BIOS pressing F2 at boot, then go to MAIN tab and enable F12 boot menu, press F10 to save and exit.

at next boot with the USB flash drive plugged, press F12 key.

also plug thee USB flash drive to USB2.0 ports and not USB3.0
