hello,

i want to replace the SSD in my acer nitro 5 for a bigger model. the current protocol used for the M.2 SSD is SATA. does anyone know if the M.2 port also supports NVME for a faster SSD?

    Hi,

According to this review you may be able to install a NVMe SSD but depends on your hardware in your laptop:https://www.ultrabookreview.com/16445-acer-nitro-5-review/

Could you please post the full specs of your laptop.

  • hi, this is the configuration of my laptop:

    • model: Acer Nitro 5 AN515-51
    • CPU: intel core i5-7300HQ
    • GPU: Nvidita GTX1050 4GB
    • SSD: HFS128G39TND-N210A 128GB
    • HDD: ST1000LM035-1RK172 1TB

Since the laptop from your posted review has an NVME SSD i think it would be safe to assume that my laptop will work with an NVME SSD. Thank you for your help (somehow i have missed that review when searching).

U can add Nvme m.2 ssd, but the nvme transfer speeds are not possible since the port is of sata m.2's.

    Hi,
Download Minitool Partition wizard Free, install the M.2 SSD, run the program as Admin, use Migrate feature at the top to migrate.

m.2 slot is using 4 pcie lanes , so why it is using sata protocol. I think it is using pcie protocol.

And also does that means its speed cannot be more than 6gbps.

    Hello, Acer Community.

I want to add into my Acer Nitro AN515-52-5010 model SSD.
Does this SSD will work with my specs?

    CPU: Intel Core i5-8300H 2.30GHZ.
GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 6GB.
    HDD: WDC WD10SPZX-21Z10T0 1TB.

SSD models, that I found and I think I can add to my notebook.
    1) SSD M.2 2280 128GB Transcend MTE110S PCIe 3.0x4 TLC.
    2) KINGSTON SA1000M8/240G.

Thank you for your time. )

The kingston should work.  And although your computer is compatible with PCIe NVMe M.2 SSDs, it doesn't appear to be compatible with the transcend that you mentioned.

BJMoody I have installed Transcend 220s 512GB NVMe PCIe x4 3d Nand ssd in my Acer Nitro 5 AN515-51
220 is just a higher speedy version of transcend 110s. It should work on your Nitro AN515-52-5010
