I'm trying to upgrade the RAM in my Aspire One D255E-13647 netbook from 1GB to 2GB. It seems that many people have done this and had success.
I have tried twice, both time with memory the vendoe specifically says is compatible with the D255E-13647 model. In each case, when I install the memory and turn the netbook on, the power light lights, the fan runs for a few seconds, but that's it. The disk activity light never comes on and the system never boots. Replacing the original 1GB memory module restores normal operation.
The memory used in my last attempt is "2GB 204p PC3-8500 CL7 8c 256x8 DDR3-1066 1Rx8 1.5V SODIMM" (see 2GB Memory Module)
At this point, having tried twice, bad memory modules can probably be ruled out. Are there Aspire One netbooks that CANNOT accept 2Gb of memory? It seems like the machine is not recognizing the 2GB memory module and therefore is refusing to boot or even look at the hard drive. I see lots of reports of succesful upgrades from 1GB to 2GB, though none specifically dealing with the 13647 model.
