Please help! Stuck on 'system restore is initializing'

So my computer (acer laptop windows 7 64bit) froze today and I restarted it.. It will not boot to windows, it goes past loading screen then black screen.

I booted in safe mode and tried to restore to an earlier acess point, it just gets stuck on the 'initializing screen' it's been 3 hour now!

Here is what I've tried,

- the above numerous times
- restarting and running recovery from there
- removing power and battery and waiting 30 min then running restore again
-ctl alt delete in safe mode, killing recovery and tried again,

There is only 1 restore date which is 8 days ago even if I check show more there are none

I should mention my computer fails to boot 3 times out of 5 when I restart it but will always boot after a restore to earlier point.

I'm sorry you're having difficulty getting Windows restored to an earlier point.

 

I would instead suggest that you completely restore the system to factory defaults.

You will want to make sure your data is completely backed up.
