Hi,

I cannot install windows 7 on this laptop because I keep on getting the error message, "A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing", even though this laptop does not have a CD/DVD drive. I set my bios to legacy mode, set touchpad to basic, and tried all my usb ports but they all give me this error.

Has anyone managed to install windows 7 on this laptop?

thanks,

David

you need the latest windows 7 version (SP1) and i suspect you would need to slipstream chipset and AHCI drivers.

this is the right tool to do it but i stronlgy suggest you to find some guide.

keep in mind one thing, if there's no drivers support for your chipset under windows 7 OS, you will not be able to install it.

    I'm not an Acer employee.

"....if there's no drivers support for your chipset under windows 7 OS, you will not be able to install it..."

Plus, does your platform have DirectX12 ?   If so there will likely be some negative compatibility issues with rolling back to Win7....

Wish I had known this before buying this Acer computer ....... I "EFFING" hate win 10. Well....when China begins selling a windows replacement O/S, I'll be first in line. A book by a Chinese entrepreneur in his book on AI states China designs its product consumer oriented. Not the microcrap "You'll ***** well like our products cuz youse gots no alternatives." Linux is free but clumsy.

I had the same problem, here's the youtube vid showing you how to solve the problem. Your machine can't see your usb, so you need to set it up with a driver. It's so simple, just check out the video.
