Max ram upgrade Aspire V5-122P-0825

Wanting to upgrade my V5 to the max ram which it says is 6Gb but it looks like the 6Gb stick is non existing. Can anyone tell me if that is the case or what will happen if I stick a 8Gb stick in the single dimm slot. Will the board simply ignore the additional 2Gb and allocate the full 6gb ram?

I suggest Piriform Speccy to tell you what memory is fitted, then Crucial to see what is available.

Your laptop was shipped with 2Gb onboard + one memory module of 2Gb DDR3L 1600MHz. According to the Acer specifications, you can install one memory module of 4Gb like this one. Your total memory amount will be 2+4 so 6Gb.
