Hi, I'm considering buying the Acer Predator G9-793.

The one I'm looking at has these specs:

Nvidia GTX 1060, 6 GB
Intel Core i5-7300HQ CPU
16 GB Ram 2 133
1 TB HDD, 128 GB SSD

So, I want to change the 1 TB HDD into a SSD disk.

The questions:

1: The 1 TB HDD is a SATA 2,5" ?
2: Im considering the Samsung 850 EVO 250GB 2.5" SSD (my price range), what are your thoughts on this disk?

Any recommandations and tips are welcome.

Regards

    Hi,

    1.Yes it's 2.5" SATA drive.

2.You can replace it with a 2.5" SSD but I don't know how it will benefit you, 1TB is mainly for storage and your boot drive is 128 M.2 drive.

Im going to use the laptop mainly for gaming, thats why i want a SSD.
Anyone have experience with whats best SSD disk for this laptop ?

I also read that replacing the cooling paste / thermal paste  helps with fan speed, any thoughts on this ?

    Im considering the Noctua NT-H1.

I'd just swap the 128 for 250 SSD and keep the 1TB HDD

Samsung 850 EVO is probably good enough for you to play game with, to my knowledge.

One more thing I want to add is the OS migration to SSD after you purchase it. The built-in Samsung Data Migration software is likely to move all data on HDD to SSD. If that is not what you want, you can find a better way to move only OS drive to SSD with the help of OS migration software.

    Regards.

EVO is overkill for the 2.5" bay since its a SATA connection. Better off buying a larger SSD and have the same performance due to SATA hardware.
