USB Ports Disabled, no digital signature? - Helios 300

So I got today my Helios 300 and was so excited about it... until I ran all the software updates...

  • After all updates I have now this bizarre issue where ALL my usb ports are disabled. I have traced the issue down in the Device Manager:
  • USBs Gone Mad.PNG
  • If I try to re-install these drivers automatically says that ther proper version is already installed...
  • If I try to re-install these drivers manually says that they are not digitally signed...
  • No Digital Signature.PNG

The only less than ideal work around I have found so far is to restart the OS in dagnose mode and have disabled the enforcement of drivers digital signatures... and what do you know my USB ports come back to live!!! BIG ISSUE: this work only once per restart. Meaning when I power down the system and start the issue is back because... well thats what Windows 10 does...

Can someone help me out... any ideas how to fix this in a more permanent way?

have you tried to right click it and choose to uninstall (tick to uninstall software too if prompted) and then reboot.

which BIOS version is installed on your Helios?

    windows logo key + r

    msinfo32

    report BIOS DATE/Version string

Hi there, thank you for your feedback however no luck. I tried uninstalling these drivers as suggested and reboot with no effect.

The bios is the latest I think: BIOS Version/Date Insyde Corp. V1.08, 6/07/2017

The link? I didnt downloaded them from anywhere, they are the ones that Win10 installs by itself. I tried searching for the drivers for manual install but couldnt find them.

What I meant by "manual" install earlier was to:

    • right click, update driver software
    • browse my computer for driver software, let me pick from a list
    • and selected the option that came out as default (which funny enough says its signed...)
    • Let me pick.PNG
    • hit next, and then thats when I get the error that "windows cannot verify the digital signature"

As mentioned earlier if I go to recovery, Advanced startup - restart now and select the option to restart without enforfcing digital signatures all usb ports work just fine for that session.

    Hi there,

    Nop,

    • tried setup.exe: says I already have a newer version installed
    • tried AppAgent_x64.msi, says another version is already installed
    • tried SetupChipset.exe, it installed but nothing happened as I can still see in the device manager the yellow warnings and of course usbs still non responsive

I suspect a windows update or windows automatic drivers update broke the drivers...at the moment i can only suggest you to factory reset your laptop and check if this momentary solve the issue.

you can also check on update history (press windows key and type "update history") to see if any xHCI drivers was installed.

I'd suggest turning off Windows 10 automatic driver updates it can really screw things up:

Press windows key + 'pause break' key (usually near top of keyboard near print screen button)

A window will pop up: on the left hand side of the window click 'Advanced System Settings'

Click on the "Hardware" tab at the top of the box that pops up

Click the button that says "Device Installation Settings"

Tick the circle next to "No" and then click 'Save Changes'
