acer aspire 8920

ive got an laptop which belongs to an friend of mine.

 

the graphics card is dead i think.

 

Ram is fine.

screen too.

cpu too.

 

boots up.

 

screen stays black. powers on and boots up.

i connected the laptop to an extrernal screen with both HDMI and vga but that does not work either.

 

i tryed other graphic cards too. but now my question.

 

are the graphic cards from an acer aspire 8930g compatible with a older type like this one the acer aspire 8920?

because it has the same connector MXMII all those graphics cards Nvidia Geforce 9600M GT and an 240M dont work in that laptop but in my 8930G they do work. all i tryed out with all the same issue on that 8920.

 

if those graphics cards are comnpatible then i think the motherboard is death.

First, have you also tried to turn the lid and external screens on with the toggle key combos? Jack E/NJ

    Yes, identical graphic card specs

    This suggests the 8920 mainboard has an issue. Possibly needs to be re-flowed if a conductor trace has cracked.
