Hey y'all.  I'm having an issue with the volume (the number in the circle) staying on the bottom middle of my screen after I've turned my volume up.  The volume control on the front of the laptop in front of the touchpad doesn't want to work anymore and all efforts to turn the volume down through the volume control in the task bar is unsuccessful.  I turn it down and it goes right back up.  So, I have 2 issues, the volume won't stay down and the volume number won't go off the middle of my screen.  Any suggestions besides rebooting the system?  I've already tried and it wasn't there until I needed the volume and then it's back.  Thanks for everything!!

As long as you've tried a full power off cold boot, then I suspect the touchpad itself has an issue, possibly its mainboard connector needs to be re-seated to clean the contacts. If you have a known-good USB mouse, check if the volume control works normally with the mouse after disabling the touchpad. Report back. Jack E/NJ
