Aspire T3-100-EF20 Win 10 Update Fail Microsoft Advice Correct?

My fault, my ignorance. Desktop came with Win 8. Upgraded to Win 10. Selected Win 8 to Win 10 in downloads from MS, assumed it came with everything. Worked well until recent Win 10 upgrade. Black screen for 2 days, after hard restart it reverted to previous Win 10.

 

Advice from Microsoft - Win 10 not supported for my machine??? Contact Acer, revert to Win 8 then download drivers for Win 10, upgrade to Win 10 (version I have now) then download drivers to upgrade to Win 10 new upgrade.

 

Please could someone with a lot more knowledge than me confirm that Microsoft's advice above is correct or if not, point me in the right direction. I'd like to learn so that next time there aren't any hitches! Many thanks in advance.
