Acer Iconia Tab 8

Hello everyone ... I bought the Acer Iconia Tab 8 late last year for a birthday present -- it was the special of the day on the CNet Cheapskate daily newsletter -- supposed to be a factory refurb back to new condition -- think it was $50 or so -- recommended highly so I bought it.  Well, from the day it arrived until now it has never worked.  I've charged and recharged, pushed the 'on' button and held it for seconds or more, still nothing.   When I first got it and after it was charged for 12 hours of so, I pushed the 'on' button the screen flashed briefly and then went black.  This only happened twice and now it won't do anything -- screen is totally black, no flicker of life, just nothing.  Basically, it's a paperweight -- or to put it another way, a factory dud. Just been sitting in the box it came in -- forgot about it but just ran across it again.  Is there any hope and/or reason I should pay to return it to Acer??  Believe it came with a 90-day warranty but that's long gone.  Or should I just put it in the junk pile of electronics to recycle?

Thanks in advance for your help ....

Yeah, a lot of the 'Factory Refurbished' units third parties sell are just returns from their retail sales, without any actual testing done. Acer has their own outlet (acerrecertified.com) they use for actually recertified units. Your best bet would have been to make them replace it during that 90 day window.

You might have a bad screen or the cable between the screen and motherboard might be disconnected. I think that is more likely than a bad battery or motherboard. At this point it wouldn't be out of line to open it up and see, you can't be worse off anyway! You might try an external monitor if your tablet has an HDMI port.
