What version is the HDMI port on the Acer Aspire VN7-593G? I want to be able to run a 4K monitor at 60Hz.

    Hello,

    • HDMI 1.4a
    • Maximum resolution HDMI: 3840×2160 at 60 Hz

Thanks for the reply. According to Wikipedia, HDMI 1.4a can only support 4096×2160 at 24 Hz or 3840×2160 at 24 Hz/25 Hz/30 Hz, which contradicts 3840×2160 at 60 Hz. Were you able to test one of these laptops firsthand with a 4K monitor?

I'm not able to test it because I don't own this model. I gave you the official specifications. I think the HDMI 1.4a term is a typo in the document.

Going to assume that it's actually HDMI 2.0 in that case. As an aside, I could not find this incredibly simple piece of information anywhere on the internet. If and when I do pick one up, I'll test it and post back the results.

Okay, just tested it. The HDMI port isn't 2.0. The best it can do at 4K is 30Hz. Also, I believe the TB3 doesn't support dual DisplayPort either, so you're basically limited to only one 4K monitor at 60Hz via TB3. Real pity.

Did you test the VN7-593G’s HDMI port with a certified HDMI 2.0 cable?

Aspire VN7-593G's HDMI is ver 1.4 no 4k 60hz support.

You can only use USB Type-C converter for HDMI 2.0
