Acer VN7-791G-78M4 and Samsung 960 EVO M.2 NVMe SSD

Hello all,

I don't have much information about hardware.

I have ordered an SSD to my friend. I wanted to have Samsung 850 EVO M.2, but my friend bought me a Samsung 960 EVO M.2 NVMe SSD since it is much faster.

Anyway, I have installed this SSD (960 EVO M.2 NVMe). However, I cannot see it anywhere. I have updated everything including BIOS but unfortunately nothing changed.

Question:

Is Samsung 960 EVO M.2 NVMe SSD compatible with Acer VN7-791G-78M4?

If yes, how can I solve the problem?

If no, should I wait for a solution by software in the future, or should I try to sell Samsung 960 EVO M.2 NVMe SSD?

Hi,

NVMe drive is not compatible with your model as yours do not have a PCI Express Root Port with Maximum Link Width of either 2x or 4x, you have to sell the Samsung 960EVO and get a M.2 SATA SSD.

hello it is not true old vn7-791 with 8x0m gpu have support for 4 lane nvme cards (on the board is M key m.2 slot) but it is disabled in bios when you have hacked bios with advanced menu you can enable it ...... pictures as proof

hey, i modded my bios but still cant detect my nvme ssd. how did you solve this? please help me, thanks.
