Hi.  My father in law gave me his Acer Tab 8W tablet since he got a new one.  I need to do a factory or hard reset- I want to wipe everything.

I have tried both the Windows reset and the Acer reset and both give me the same message "There was a problem resetting your PC.  No changes were made. Check for solutions to this problem."

Any ideas?

Thanks gang

You are likely to need a Windows install image of the proper version, then boot from it, go to recovery mode and do the reset from there. It's not quite as much of a hassle as a full reinstall and cheaper than buying a recovery image from Acer.

Thanks a lot.  I am not a techie, so I am not sure how to do the windows install image.  Any guidance on this would be appreciated very much.  Or else I will have to try going to Geek Squad at Best Buy.

It's not too difficult, but does involve jumping through a lot of hoops to get an install image booting from a thumb drive. If you can't figure it out easily with a couple of Google searches you are probably going to want to get it to a technician. Geek Squad can do it and it shouldn't cost too much, or any other local shop should be able to do it as well. If you're not comfortable with the process I'm not comfortable trying to step you through it. Smiley Wink
