A200 - Over the air updates not working and YouTube videos skip every 10 seconds or so.

Not sure if they are related or two seperate problems but here's the details:

1) When I try to do a check for updates, it says:

Network coverage is currently poor. "Network Coverage" "Please move to a location with better coverage to continue."

My wifi is perfect and everything works fine with the exception of You Tube. Even videos played from other apps play perfectly fine. I know they may not be any updates above what I have but the check update should say you have the latest version so this feature is not working correctly.

2) When I try playing You Tube videos and it doesn't matter which ones, the videos skips or looses a few seconds every 10 seconds or so. This makes the video unwatchable because I keep loosing a few seconds of the video like every 10 or 15 seconds.

I have not installed any new apps since I did the factory reset and I even removed a SD card I had for extra storage in case this was causing a problem with You Tube app. Netflix, Crackle when it was installed before reset all worked perfectly playing videos so I find it strange that only You tube app is acting strangely

I did a factory reset and even updated to a newer youtube version.

This is the details of my Tablet.

Acer Iconia Tab A200

Android version 4.0.3

Kernel Version 2.6.39.4+

    1) this was discussed and already replied months ago, Acer shutted down the old OTA servers and updates are no more available via this method; by the way, you already have the latest android version for your device

    2) A200 is an old device nowadays and probably the newer YouTube version needs a better CPU and more ram but can be some wifi connection issue too; quite hard to know it without having the device in hand

OK, I understand now about the Update issue but when I reset to the factory settings, it reloaded the factory You Tube that was designed to run with this tablet so at the very least, if I didn't update to a newer version, it should still play videos without skipping. May be a newer version of You Tube would require more CPU or memory but the version I'm using now is the official one released with the tablet by Acer and I didn't allow it to update after the reset to factory settings.

I also doubt it's a WiFi problem because the Wifi has no problem with playing video from other apps (Netflix, Crackle, etc) and a WiFi download test app gives it a Excellent results for WiFi upload download speeds.

I'm thinking something like the built in virus scanner or some other app / setting may be directly affecting the You Tube app. May be someone else had this problem on a A200 tablet and corrected it. While I didn't time it, it seems to happen at regular intervals, like something going on in the background every 15 or 20 seconds. The problem is related to the You tube app in someway. I did check the You Tube settings in the app but not much to change in their.

    Thanks for your help.

about virus scanner, you can try to disable or uninstall the application if possible.

settings/applications - tap on the virus scanner app and choose to disable and force stop.
