Acer Aspire V5-591G-78PJ SSD Problems
Hy guys!
I bought a brand new SAMSUNG EVO 960 M.2 SSD and i wanted to install Windows 10 on it, but i could not figure it out how to do. If i want to install it on the HDD, it lets me do it, but when it comes to the SSD I got a problem. It says that I have to turn on the disk controller in the BIOS, but somehow there is no option like that in my BIOS. So I'm thinking about updating my BIOS, maybe there will be an option like this. So basicaly, my question is: Can I update my BIOS from v1.05 to v.1.14(newest) with acer's program? Will i have any problems?
EDIT: I did it, didn't experience any problem, but I still can't install windows 10 on my SSD Could someone give me some tips how to do it? Tried almost everything what i found in the internet.

Hi,
Check whether your laptop capable of NVMe SSD, find the details in this thread:http://community.acer.com/t5/E-F-and-M-Series-Laptops/Acer-Aspire-E5-575-52JF-m-2-nvme-support/td-p/497241
If you find the Maximum Link Width is either 2x or 4x, you can use the NVMe SSD which is the one you have bought.
Are you trying to do a clean install? If so, create a bootable USB with media creation tool.

You need to remove the original HDD and leave only the SSD while installing the Windows 10.

Thanks for the fast reply. BUT, I tried to do everything as it was mentioned in the link before, but I gave it a chance and tried it again. Still got the same problem. "Windows cannot be installed to this disk", and when i click on it, It says: I have to enable the disk controller in the BIOS menu. But as i mentioned, i dont have that kind of option in my BIOS and I am pretty sure I am not blind, so there are no option like this. What can I do?
I started to lose my hope in this whole thing. Do you have any suggestion about how to access that kind of option?
EDIT: Maximum link width is 4x, so probably it is not the source of the problem. And If i press F12 (boot option menu) my SSD never appers. What a found out, its probably because the SSD in the BIOS is not in AHCI, but i dont have an option to change it to AHCI. So how can i change it?

Hi,
Which mode your SATA is set? It should have been in AHCI mode by default, try checking again by installing the original HDD.

Well, I don't see a SATA mode option in my bios

Maybe you can find it on one of the following pages of your Bios
And install the latest Bios0 -
I did, the latest is 1.14, what i already have. And on the other pages i can't find it also.

Remove SSD and check whether your hard drive shows the mode in BIOS.

Tried it. Still nowhere.

Hi,
Just check the values shown in your OS(original HDD), take out the SSD, don't change any values, take a snip and post here.

Well, I have a little problem with the 17th step. As I mentioned, I do not have a SATA Type option. It feels like little bit the BIOS is "secured" or something. Like, only the basic things are accessable.

Sorry, I didn't make myself clear, remove the SSD, leave the original HDD in the laptop, follow the instructions in the tutorial, in step 4 you see a piscture showing value for iaStorV, and in the step 6 you see a picture showing the value for StartOveride, I want to see how they look in your laptop. Please post the snip of them here. Please don't change anything.

Here are those. I haven't changed anything. If you are curious about what language is that, what I am using, it is hungarian.

Hi,
Your ivStorV value is correct but you need to change the value for StartOverride, if you are confident changing the value to zero and reboot to see whether you get the SATA mode option in BIOS, however, please make a backup of your system or create a system restore point before doing any change.
Follow the instructions in the tutorial I have posted, if you don't want to do it by yourself, get a friend to help you or take it to a repair shop and get it done.

Okay, I am going to do it and post the results after all.
