Hi,few months ago I bought Predator G5-793.

On the start it has only 8GB of ram so I decided to buy 3 modules extra(8 GB) ones(the same brand, timing etc.).

You can imagine my suprise when I get a phonecall from service guy that was going to add extra ram with information that he can add only 2 modules inside that small compartment where You can install ssd drive - the one really easy accesible because there is no 4 slot for ram on the motherboard and the ram module that is already there(preinstalled one) is pernament so I cant take it out and replaced it with 16Gb in the future.

Anyone has any idea whats going on?

Motherboard number according to speccy information is : Acer Challenger2C_SKS (U3E1)

PS:Anyone know why some programs show that mt GeForce 1060 has only 2064 Ram?

Best Regards.

Scan shows 4 memory slots and one is free.My service guy is wrong or scan is wrong.Service guy said that for 100% that 8GB preinstalled memory slot in attached to motherboard pernamently and he could not find 4th memory slot.Even if he miss that slot there should not be any pernament memory module on motherboard. He said aswell that he checked motherboard serial number and according to it there are only 3 slots.Or my guy is wrong or I have unique predator example.

Russian 7898 model. Mainboard specs still suggest four DDR4 slots with advertised 64GB max. Jack E/NJ

There are actually 4 slots for ram in your laptop. There is no integrated ram in these predators. The other 2 slots missing are actually on the other side of the motherboard where the keyboard is. I guess the 8gb ram you have is installed on the other side, which in order to access you have to disassemble the whole laptop. The 4 slots are there 2 are easily accessible and the other 2 are on the other side of the motherboard.

Edit: My advice - change your 'service guy' or do things like changing RAM by yourself

Always post the following characterisitcs of the device:
    -Model number
    -Part number(not required, but helpful)
    -CPU
    -GPU
    -Operating system

Helios 300 and Nitro 5 users DO NOT update the BIOS to version 1.22 if you don't want the keyboard's backlight to turn off after 30 seconds even when the device is plugged in.

I installed by myself 2 ram modules and a SSD storage device because is dead easy.I wasnt feeling strong enough about opening whole laptop by myself and the main reason for hiring the service guy anyway was repasting CPU with fresh thermal paste(thermal Grizzly).I never did things like that and its quite expensive laptop so i prefer to hire specialist.I will ask for another check.Thank You very much for help Smiley Happy
