V5-591G Wifi drops constantly, have to restart

Among the several other unacceptable issues with this computer, the most irritating is that it will drop Wifi randomly every day or two and does not work again until I restart, which also has an issue: when I try to restart or shut down due to this issue, it will never do it without me having to force it. I click the shutdown/restart button and it will go to the blue page with the spinning dots and stay there, or go black and leave the keyboard lit, never actually shutting down until I force it.

And there is no troubleshooting the wifi without restarting, because it will not open network settings when this happens.

Somebody please help, this is ridiculous.

Hi,

Go to Device manager, expand Network adapters, highlight and right click the WiFi adapter, select Properties, go to Power management tab, untick the box says "Allow the computer to turn off...". HTH.

Could you please post the make and model, driver version of your WiFi card, also the OS you are using.

You could try few things, you can install the driver from Acer support site, the version you need is 12.0.0.137 from here:https://www.acer.com/ac/en/GB/content/support-product/6456?b=1

You can also try changing the band in Advanced tab in WiFi Properties.

I already had 12.0.0.137 and it was literally crashing the entire computer on it's own, so at someone else here's advice I downloaded the generic Qualcomm driver instead. So, now just dropping wifi is technically an improvement. Right now I have their version 4.0.2.217.

Change the band to what, 5ghz? Right now it has no preference.

Had the same issue 3 month ago. Started after Windows system driver update.
I have re-installed wi-fi/bluetooth driver from Acer.com (original).
And it works fine by now.
