Picture scaling problem on W700 i5

Hi all

I'm having some scaling issues with my W700Pro i5 tablet!

Some games are full screen at lower resolutions (Diablo 3 at 1280x720) but others are centered on the screen with black borders (Crysis)

In Intel's display control panel there is only "Maintain aspect ratio"option available! If I lower the desktop resolution, two more options show up but I don't want to lower the desktop resolution! Is there any way to enable the two other options in full hd resolution?

Have you tried any of the different drivers from here ??

Yes I've tried 3 different drivers already. Every time the same thing! My desktop is running at native 1920x1080p resolution and in the Intel display control panel the only available scaling option is "maintain display scaling". If I lower the desktop resolution to anything lower than full hd then two more options appear, one of which is the one I need to be able to play those games on full screen! maybe the generic driver for the dicplay is to blame or maybe it is the HD4000 driver, I don't know.... Ideas? Some registry hack to force the full screen scalling option maybe?

I noticed some issues on my Steam games where they would not scale properly. I had to fine the actual game executable and right click it to get the "compatability" dialog box. In that box I checks either scale to higher DPI or un-checked it depending on the game. I had to do it one way for a really old game and the other way on a newer game. I am sure that this is not limited to Steam games either.

    Hello everyone,

While our members are generally eager to provide useful information, be advised that Acer does not validate third party external links for downloads and is not responsible for them.

Acquiring files through such links is at the user’s own risk.

    Thanks!

I tried the compatibity setting too but no change! The problem lies in the Intel driver most probably, because it just doesn't want to scale at full display resolution! If I lower the resolution to 1680x1050 and the setting appear in the Intel display control center and it can also be enabled or disabled with Ctrl+Alt+F11 but in 1920x1080 (desktop resolution) the settings are gone and the Ctrl+Alt+F11 doesn't work!

I have the same problem since 2 or 3 weeks. All games worked in fullscreen, before, even when I changed the resolution in the games setting.

Before this happened, I made 2 changes, I made a windows update and I installed the newest video driver from Intels homepage.

I thought it was the new driver, but after I reinstalled the older one from Acer, nothing has changed.

    Has no one a solution?

    @OrionBG

How did you get Crysis working?

Maybe you can help me and please have a look at my thread:

Who said I was talking about Crysis 2? Smiley Happy

In fact I'm running Crysis 3! Smiley Wink

The interesting part is that this scaling problem is only present on some games! Diablo 3 for instance is Full screen and I'm running it at 1366x768 or 1280x720 depending on the mood Smiley Happy Skyrin is in full screen too...

Something is very wrong with the Intel VGA driver (as usual)

I can't even start crysis 3 demo, the same error!

    Do you have any idea?

Did you read my error massage in the other thread?

This is so far the only way I know to "fix" this...
    1. Change the resolution to anything under 1080("normal")
    2. Go to intel grahics center or whatever its called and you will see an option where you can set the res to scale to full screen
    3. Play your game in whatever res under 1080 and it will scale to fullscreen
    4. When done, change the res back to 1080
I know it kinda sucks but its so far the only way that I have gotten it to work
Let me hear if you have more problems, Im here to help Smiley Happy

Yes I've done that a couple of times but is messes my desktop icon placement and is not really a fix but a workaround for something that should work out of the box without we having to scratch our heads on it!
