coputer powered off but fans kept running.Disconnected from mains.reconnected,held power button for 1 min,no joy,although fans still running.internet suggests it could be a dead cmos battery(comp 7 years old) they suggest if i replace that it should work .Does this make sense?

    disconnect the power cable, press power button twice then reconnect the power cable and press power button.

     

    if you still have issues, check CMOS battery voltage and buy a new one.

    disconnect the power cable, press power button twice, change the CMOS battery, then reconnect the power cable and press power button, press F2 key to enter BIOS and set as you need.
