Function keys have stopped working. Tried downloading Quick Access Application. When try to install, it says, "Quick Access versioin 1.01.3012 is installed. Please uninstall it first," then says, "Quick Launch Manager version 8.00.8108 has been installed. Please remove it first." I can not find either of the "already installed" programs.

The Function keys don't seem to work in programs, either.

Hi,

Go to Device manager, expand keyboards, highlight and right click Standard PS/2 keyboard, select Properties, go to Driver tab and uninstall, reboot and let Windows install the driver. HTH.

Thank you - all I see is "HID Keyboard Device." Am rather apprehensive about uninstalling it, lest I wind up with no keyboard at all. FWIW, the "HID Keyboard Device" is shown twice, no difference when I view their properties.

Hi,

It's OK, try this, go to Power Options(right click battery icon in taskbar), click "Choose what the Power buttons do",click "Change settings that are currently unavailabe", untick "Turn on Fast Start-up".

This may or may not help but worth a try.

Alas, no luck. It interests me that about half of the Northern/Western hemisphere appears to be complaining online about (suddenly) non-functioning function keys with various versions of Acer. The puzzling thing, considering that many versions of Acer appear to be affected, is that the function keys - at least in my case - worked fine until very recently. Can't think of a thing I've done that might have changed things.

 

I do consider the possibility that computers hate me. Thank you so much for all your suggestions. I've not yet given up entirely, but it's very frustrating.

Try this if yoou haven't already done, go to Services, scroll down to "Human Interface Devices Service", right click and switch to Automatic if it's Disabled or Manual.
