Hi everyone. I would like a little help if possible.

I have Aspire 5750 i5 8GB RAM + SSD. Everything fine till it turned itself off a few days ago with a smell of burning. Nothing obvious that I could see. I now think the RAM was fried as it will not work in the new machine.

I have aquired an Acer Aspire 5750 with i3 and 2GB RAM. I have installed my SSD and new 8GB RAM with no problems. My question is:

Can I swap the i3 processor for the i5 and if so is there anything else I need to look at.

Many thanks in advance

Regards

Paul

It's a chore but should be do-able. Google "aspire 5750" "service manual" with the quotes. Jack E/NJ

    Thanks for taking the time.

I downloaded 2 manuals but they came with so much junk I'm having to clean up now. Can you suggest where I may get a clean copy?

    TIA

Sorry that sometimes does happen. But you can usually view the relevant sections which in your case would be "cpu removal" and "cpu installation" in the owl manual viewers section 3-42 page 118 for a general overview. I think the same thing is possible on the manualslib site. Then google "aspire 5750" "cpu upgrade" "youtube" for videos on changing the CPU for similarly configured 5700 series models. like I said, it's a chore to get at these CPU modules.
