There is apparently a lot of issues going on about the new Predator 17X having CPU thermal bottlenecking but this shouldnt be happening because the I7 6820HK in the older model ran just fine, and the new Kaby lake chips basically use up the same amount of Power and produce the same amount of heat as the older Sky Lake models just have a new architecture and the core speed is a bit more. To me it seems like there is a software issue with monitering the heat because I played Watch Dogs 2 for 1 hour+ while overclocking it to Turbo, the CPU temp supposedly jumped to 95C+ While the GPU stayed under 75C
But I did notice the CPU temp going from 96C to all of a sudden 78C and it kept jumping back and forward even with it being on a different moniter(So I wasnt Alt+Tabbing in and out which could cause this) And any part of the device I touched didnt feel warm at all, it felt more cool than my older laptop that had a 960m with an I7 6700HQ
At first I thought that this was a Predator Sence issue so I called and Acer told me on how to press that button that simulates taking the battery in and out(Ive never done it
)
That didnt really help though
Soooo..... In conclusion I think that this whole CPU issue might be an issue with monitering the new Intel chips(This is a theory not 100% sure) That is why changing the voltage or adding new thermal paste didnt help with much.
