Acer Liquid Z6 - Troubles since system update : constanly waking up + demo mode wartemark

Hi,

I've updated my acer liquid z6 phone last week-end when I received a notification for that. Since Then, the phone UI displays constantly a "DEMO MODE" watermark in the bottom right of the screen. Reading the google documentation about android demo mode, it seems to be usually a developper issue.

Also, and more annoying, the phone is now unable to stay in sleep mode. when entering in sleep mode it wakes up a few seconds later to re enter in sleep mode a few seconds later and on and on until it runs short on battery. This seem to happen within less than a day due to this unnecessary constant wake up. The only way is to shut completely the phone to keep the charge. When using it no other issue seem to occur.

I'm not used to smartphones, it's my first one. So I'm not sure which information is relevant to give. Let's try though:

try a factory reset, backup your personal data first:

settings/backup & reset - factory data reset

Hi IronFly, and thank you for your quick answer. I tried it but it doesn't work. After the factory reset, I still have that "demo mode" watermark while setuping my phone and it stays after. And the phone still doesn't stay in sleep mode.

swap to the left and select All tab, check if "Demo mode" is listed, tap it and disable.

I checked the apps and no "demo mode" app is listed

I searched a it for demo mode, it seems like a developper stuff :

The thing is, while getting into the System UI Tuner, in the Demo Mode panel, "Enable Demo Mode" is already unchecked, "Show Demo Mode" being greyed (because "enable demo mode" is unchecked) and unchecked too. Enabling it doesn't do a thing.

Demo is not listed under running applications too?

I'm not sure it's what you mean by running applications but, in Memory>show cached processes i've got :

- Settings

- Amundsen

- Digital Clock and Weather

- Google Services

- Google Play Services

- Messaging

Hi,

I had the same problem, to solve it, I had to do a factory reset. For it :
1. Turn off the smartphone.
2. Switch on by pressing "volume +" and "power" simultaneously and press and hold until a tiny menu appears and select: Recovery and confirm the choice by pressing "volume -"
4. Once in recovery, choose Wipe data / factory reset.
Be careful to make a good backup before.
