lately my headphones have had to be turned up to 100 just so i can hear properly so i went into playback devices to make sure it was my headphones being used properly but they dont even show up as a device yet sound comes through them when plugged into my laptop? I've tried googling a solution but nothing works

it will not be shown as a device. They are just loudspeaker. My son did not get his very expensive headphones working. I put mine in and out and they are working. Device is just the same as for internal speakers.

If I attach for e.g. loudspeakers via USB recevier, they are shown as device.

ok thanks, but that still doesn't explain why I have to have the volume turned all the way up. I used my partners headphones and I only needed the volume at 17 not 80 like I had to with my headphones

is there any difference between your headphones?

If you plugin yours go to "Loudspeakers>Properties>Dolby Audio". Is Dolby disabled? If yes press enable. Sometimes it turns off here, depending to your drivers. I use realtek version 8004. Very stable.

His headphones are corsair wireless and mine aren't (wireless) but they dont show up as a device on his computer either which must be fine, I use realtek as well so is there a way to mess around with the volume?
