How to Enable Freesync on XF240H Monitor

I am having difficulty enabling freesync on my Acer XF240H monitor. I am using a Displayport cable. I have updated the driver for my monitor as per this forum post.

I have turned on freesync via Radeon Settings, but the OSD shows it's not on. The OSD image was taken while in Overwatch. There does not appear to be a setting in the OSD to turn it on manually; it seems it's supposed to turn on automatically when going into a game. I have seen it say "Mode:Freesync" once or twice while in game but it never stays on, not long enough for me to tell a difference between when freesync is on or off.

Can anyone else who owns this monitor give me some advice? Thanks in advance.

I own a KG240 - all I had to do was use DP 1.2 cable, compatible gfx card, and change windows display settings to 144hz.

Right click on desktop -> Display Settings -> Display adapter properties -> Monitor tab -> 144 hertz

Sometimes in the menus of games, It says mode=normal, but when you are actually playing and switch to gameplay, it says mode=freesync.
