Have ab Aspire 5738G laptop with black screen on startup need to know how to flash the bios - have asked ACER and got standard response of doing power drain and pay us £47.50 and we will look at it and tell you how much more to fix!!

So does anyone know how to flash bios and where to download (did ask about zip file from Acer but they didn't answer that either

    >>>Aspire 5738G laptop with black screen on startup need to know how to flash the bios >>>

    (1) Did this happen suddenly without warning or did it happen after trying to make hardware, software or firmware modifications or upgrades/downgrades?

    (2) Have you previously tried to flash the BIOS by ***ANY*** flash methods either before or after the black screen startup happened?

    1. Next boot after a shutdown

    2. Not attempted flash as trying to get comfirmation of methodology

Please understand that trying a BIOS recovery with your system's symptoms outside the Windows environment is notoriously unreliable since the actual problem is probably a failed graphics controller on the MB.

Google the terms "wincris.exe"  "download" with the quotes. Follow the instructions for making a Phoenix BIOS recovery FAT-formatted USB stick. You can download the appropriate compressed BIOS files for your notebook Aspire 5738G  at https://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/drivers. Rename it according to the USB instructions. Jack E/NJ
