Bottom front panel USB ports and Media Card Reader slot Dead

I have an ACER AX1430 G desktop that I bought about 5 months ago. The computer has two USB ports and a media card slot at the bottom front of the computer. They appear to be dead and don't respond when known good devices and cards are plugged in. The chat support has suggested that I restore/reload the OS etc even though this problem existed out of the box with the new factory installed OS. The other USB ports on the rear of the compter all work fine. If this turns out to be a hardware problem I'm tempted to just get an external USB dock with expansion ports and and an external card reader and go that way. But it sure would be nice if the front panel ports worked like they are suypposed to.

A reload to factoy settings will be better first and if that doesnt work then take the machine to the repair centre for a warranty repair if you bought it brand new.
