Aspire T3-715A - screen goes blank, graphics scrambled on reboot

I just got this machine nine days ago. I was playing Europa Universalis IV this morning when the screen went blank and the keyboard stopped working (Ctrl-Alt-Del had no effect, light didn't go on when I hit CapsLock).

 

Power-cycled it, and there was some problem with the graphics. Instead of loading Windows, it would just show the boot screen over and over again. Automatic repair didn't work. I kept trying to reboot, and eventually I got a normal-looking boot screen and could start Windows. Resumed my game and twenty minutes into playing, the black screen happened again! I finally got it to reboot properly after I disconnected all the cables and pulled the machine out of its cubbyhole )to copy down the serial number), then reconnected everything.

 

Brand-new graphics card gone bad already? Driver problem? Please help!graphics messed up
