Aspire 8943G Media Console driver compatible with Windows 10?

After upgrading to Windows 10 my Media Console is no longer working /the Touch Pad seems OK). Local Swedish Acer customer support suggests that the unit is not compatible with Windows 10 and that there is no updated driver for the unit. In order to get it working thet tell me to roll back to Windows 7. That is not an option. They also tell me that the Media Console driver does not exist for download.

Does anyone have the same experience and how can the problem be resolved? Will the Windows 7 driver work with Windows 10?

Furthermore, after upgrading to Windows 10 all Acer utility programs disappeared from the program listed under "programs and functions". Local support tells me that the programs disappeared in the upgrade process. Microsoft customer support denies that Windows remove any PC specific programs.

If any of you well experienced ladies and gentlemen have a solution to my problem it will bee highly appreciated.

If you are running a non-OEM version of Windows then you will lose the utilities that are available on the Acer software load only. Unfortunately the utilities or apps that are specific to the Acer product are not available for download because of licensing issues. The only way to get those utilities is to use the operating system that shipped on the system from factory.

Thank you for your response. Unfortunately it did not answer the compatibility issue. So I am asking again, will the factory installed Windows 7 Aspire 8943G Media Console driver work with Windows 10? Reinstalling Windows 7 is not an option.
Lost utility software: Microsoft support firmly tells me that the Windows 10 upgrade does not remove any system specific software. If in that is in fact what happens, Microsoft would face a storm of complaints from users with corrupted systems after installing the free upgrade. Any comments on that?

Before upgrading to Windows 10 I installed a SSD. The factory installed Windows 7 installation is intact on the old HHD. Is there any way to copy the utilities aand drivers from the HDD, either by reinstalling the old drive and copy the software to a USB memory stick, change back to the SSD and install the software, or hook up the old HDD by means of an USB adapter and copy the software from the HDD to the SSD. Will it be possible to identify and separate the different apps?

A million thanks for your help and support.

Acer did not qualify Windows 10 on the Aspire 8943G so unfortunately we do not have information on whether the Windows 7 Media Console works with Windows 10. Since that operating system was not qualified for that model, we would be unable to assist with issues that may happen by installing Windows 10. Our support is limited to installing the OEM operating system via USB recovery media or via the hard drive using ALT+F10 recovery.  We have no information on how to copy certain files from the Windows 7 operating system onto an SSD or other drive for use in Windows 10. If you are able to do this, that is fine but as this is outside our scope of support for this model we are unable to offer information on how to use Media Console in Windows 10.

    Thanks, Acer-Mary for your clarification.

Then I have two addditional questions: Does in fact Windows 10 delete system specific software from the system as a part of the upgrade process? Microsoft strongly denie that.

Secondly, what is the Media Console name listed in the Device Manager? I want to try to roll back to the old Windows 7 driver to test if that work.

    Thanks again.

I know this is more than three years ago, but I've been troubleshooting this problem myself.

For the most part, the Aspire 8943G is compatible with Windows 10, and most of the software works with it (other than the fingerprint Scanner. This isn't supported by Windows Hello and I don't really see a way around it, but that's pretty minor really).

What you do need to do is uninstall and reinstall applications and drivers. To fix the media control button on the touchpad, the Launch Manager Application needs to be uninstalled and reinstalled (you need to reboot after uninstalling, then again after reinstalling the application). Drivers can be found on the Acer website by searching Google or Bing for the device model + drivers.

I have a Acer Aspire 8943g windows 7. I want to upgrade to windows 10. Should I upgrade? Why didn’t the manufacturer test this particular unit on the windows 10? Left us to deal with the uncertain if it will damage the laptop.

    Many thanks

I believe it's mostly because Windows 10 wasn't yet even in testing when this model was released... There have been a lot of years that went past during the 7->8->8.1->10 period. :) It sounds like it's pretty much just the one app that people have been having trouble with.

I have a similar issue. ive update my Aspire 8943G to windows 10 and now I lost the standard built in blu-ray dvd player software and also my media button is no longer linked to it but is to the sadly worthless windows media player. I have cyberlink to play these but cant seem to link the media buttons to the program. This is so unfair and 3rd party apps are always not so stable and sometimes glitchy. Ive lost some of the amazing capabilities UPGRADING to windows 10! instead of enhancement its a degrade that you wasted money on but always sent messages and notification Microsoft to do so! Very disappointing and starting to make me rethink Acer trust and loyalty.

Yeah, Microsoft decided to no longer pay the royalties needed for video playback when they released Windows 10, so we now have to rely on third parties to decode DVD or Blue Ray video. That's why the older Media Player went away...
