Cannot extend display to TV from Acer Predator

Not sure I have the correct forum but here goes. I have been unable to extend the display from my Acer Predator Win 10 laptop (G9-793-78CM) to my 2016 Samsung 8000 series TV using a 20 foot KabelDirekt HDMI cable. I CAN duplicate the display though. Switching cables allowed me to extend the display, but it is 5 feet or less.

However, when I tried the KabelDirekt cable (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...abs_brd_tag_dp) to my TV from my HP Envy laptop I WAS able to extend the display. Can someone please advise me on a longer cable that will let me extend the display from the Acer to the TV? Maybe it is an issue of a speed-rating for the cable (?). Thank you!

    Trying the same thing with my predator17x. Could mirror display to my lg c6p but not extend display. Tried 'display 2 only' that didn't work either. Haven't tried other cables. More testing and feedback this weekend.

    If you your TV is FHD, then make sure that you have set the resolution of the GPU to FHD too. And you can also go to settings and try setting it to borderless.

    Always post the following characterisitcs of the device:
    -Model number
    -Part number(not required, but helpful)
    -CPU
    -GPU
    -Operating system

    Helios 300 and Nitro 5 users DO NOT update the BIOS to version 1.22 if you don't want the keyboard's backlight to turn off after 30 seconds even when the device is plugged in.

    I did notice the borderless setting. That prettied things up for games pushed to the tv. I dont know if OP has my same goals in mind but im trying to push 4k content from the 1080p laptop to a 4ktv. Obviously I cant be mirroring a 1080p display and doing that. I wonder if its possible at all? Could it be that im going through hdmi (maybe the port isnt 2.0?) when i should be pushing through the thunderbolt port with a thunderbolt - hdmi 2.0 adapter?

    I am wondering if a Thunderbolt 3 to HDMI adapter would be a solution for my problem (original post in this thread). Opinions anyone?

    if your TV is not discovered when you hotplug it in the HDMI port and it does the same if you plug another cable and monitor, which is working somewhere esle, I would highly recommend to send it to Acer for exchange. Of course you can try the other ports. I would start with Display Port to HDMI adapter. Thunderbolt should theoretically do it, too.

    I tried the same 20 foot HDMI cable from my Acer laptop to an older 1080p Samsung TV. It had zero issues and played video with no drop outs.

     

    I have a Thunderbolt 3 to HDMI adapter, as well as a 10 foot HDMI cable, on order. I will reply back with results after I try them.

    So I was able to resolve this issue! I bought this: (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M6C49X2/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1) and connected it to a 20 foot HDMI cable. The Thunderbolt3 to HDMI adapter offered no video or sound drops for an extended video session. It was $20, but it does fix this issue.
