Aspire 5520 shuts down unexpectedly

My Acer Aspire 5520 shuts down occasionnaly.  It does feel hot underneath so I propped up the back side so there's air flow underneath, but it still shuts down.  The bios I'm running is v1.08.  I have opened it and ensured that it was not blocked with dust.  I have upgraded it to Windows 7 64bit, and I believe I upgraded the bios from what it shipped with years ago to v1.08.  Any suggestions on what could be causing the problem?

    Good day

Run the HDD and memory test. Use seatools for HDD test and memtest86 for memory tests. If they do pass, run a full virus scan and also reload the machine. If the machine still autoshutsdown, you need to replace the mainboard.
