Aspire v15 592G Wifi dropping every 10mins

Afternoon guys, I got this new beaut of a machine for Chrimstmas this year as I needed a new laptop but also wanted to be able to smash a couple of games occasionally (by occasionally I mean as often as possible). FIrst everything ran great.

Now for some reason, starting when I downloaded steam last night (or the first time I noticed) the wifi changes to limited connectivity. I have to troubleshoot it everytime to get it to work again. It does always come back but I tested with my other laptop and it works fine still on there even when it is not on this one. Is this issue known/ a hardware error?

Also a small question about gaming, do I always need the charger in? I loaded a game of Skyrim yesterday to test it but the screen went all funny and flickery until I put the charger in (happened on afew others aswell).

Thanks guys

All the best and have a great new year

  • Hi,

Could you please post the WiFi card model and number, current driver version.

In the mean time, you could try switching the DNS server address to either Open DNS or Google DNS, go to Network and sharing centre, click the WiFi, click properties, highlight Internet Protocol version 4, click Properties and change the DNS address as shown in the snip( it shows OpenDNS Address), if you want googledns, it's 8.8.8.8 for primary and 8.8.4.4 for secondary.

Hi Brummyfan, I updated the driver to the newest one as I was checking this for you.

I hope this is what you need.

    Thanks for your help.

Also the DNS fix didn't change the dropping of wifi, it still keeps doing it. Sometimes it will happen many times in 10 mins or once every 10 mins.

This is the troubleshoot fix I get. It will say 'Resetting Wifi Adaptor' everytime

  • OK, cuold you please uninstall the driver in Device manager and reboot, windows will install the driver, let us know how it fares. BTW, create a system restore point or backup the image to an external hard drive, create a recovery disk to be on the safe side before trying drivers.

You sould always go back to the working laptop if you get in to trouble.

Thanks Brummy, I have done just that.

I will post back in around half an hour to let you know if it fixed the issue!

    Thanks for your help

I'm afraid it has dropped already, with the same message about default gateway.

    Such a thing breaks heart

  • Hi James,

I know it's very frustrating, these models have the Ariel placed in main body and not in the back of the screen unlike other models, so we need to find the right driver to make it work, please try this version of driver fro Station-drivers, they provide good drivers and a trustworthy site, you can download from here:http://www.station-drivers.com/index.php?option=com_remository&Itemid=352&func=fileinfo&id=2011&lang=en

EDIT:Could you also go to Settings, Network and Internet, WiFi and click Manage Known networks, if you see any unknown networks, click them and select forget.

Thank you Brummy, I installed that driver and it still has dropped twice already. It seems my internet speed is also being effected as when I tried to download on here I was getting 10 - 80kb speed when on my other laptop it was 2.5mb.

I will try some other drivers on that website to see if they work. I read on another site the Killer driver would work but this one hasn't. If its finding the right driver I hope I find one soon ha. On the advertisement it said it would be ultra-fast wireless speed, I just hope I can get it working.

    Thank you for helping

I have installed this one http://www.station-drivers.com/index.php?option=com_remository&Itemid=352&func=select&id=458&lang=en

Which for the time being has been working perfectly. Speed has returned, and I can stream again. I will post back if it begins to stop working again!

Thank you for all your help Brummy!

After trying multiple different drivers it still hasn't worked.

The Killer suite 2500 seemed to work at first but it is still dropping. With the same default gateway error.

Is it worth sending it back? Or is there a driver out there that will work do you think?

  • Hi,

It's not worth sending and waiting for a month to get it back if you are sending for repair, If you want to send for a refund or replacement, wait for another week or so and try fixing by yourself. I know someone with similar issue fixed it by replacing the WiFi card but unable to find the thread.

    EDIT:

    Try the second option:http://acer.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/32747#_ga=1.207779675.859377040.1479224960

Thank you Brummyfan you have been a great help. I have found one that seems to work, it has only dropped once since 6pm yesterday, it isn't the fastest wifi speed but I will take it for now. I read about changing the wifi card, I wasn't sure if I would want to pay out hte cash and I'd have to send it to a shop anyway as I wouldn't want to damage anything and then not be able to send it back what so ever.

I will try that option when I get home from work, just to see if it works!

    All the best

    Thanks man.

I still haven't managed to fix the problem. Every driver I install works for abit then the same problem occurs.

I have completely uninstalled the device aswell which hasn't done anything

I don't suppose anybody has miraculously come up with a solution?
