We've had this laptop for around 3 ish years it's a E1 series model V5WE2, my husband was working on it and dropped something on to it, since then it has not booted up, not even from the recovery disc. Has he completely broken it? When we boot it and press F2, it brings up a menus, but I'm not experienced enough to know what to do. Can you help? I think it's lost its operating system or something?

  • Hi,

Open the service hatch after disconnecting from mains and removing the battery, take out the hard drive and reinsert it, remove the memory sticks one by one and reinsert them, some components might have become loose or dislodged.

Just tried that and it's still saying default boot drive missing or boot failed and to insert recovery disc, when we do that it still won't boot. It just says no bootable device, please restart system.

I would suggest you replace the hard drive, hence "no bootable device". I would also suggest if possible replace it with an ssd while you're at it
