Front Camera Resolution

I have a Switch Alpha 12 that is, in most respects, a wonderful computer/tablet.  Reviews about the Alpha's cameras were pretty critical, so I didn't buy it expecting excellent cameras.  I never use the rear camera, but I Skype a lot with my kids.  I'm using an old Apple iPad 2 and alternating with the Alpha.  The iPad has a .75 meg shooter and the Alpha has a 2 meg unit (2-1/2 times the resolution).  Yet, everyone tells me that the old iPad has a much better Skype experience than does the Acer.

Surely, there must be some way to tweak the Alpha camera software to make it work as well as a 5 year old iPad.  Has anyone had success at upgrading the camera software?

Thanks,

The bad quality of the camera is a problem at the cheap picture chip. Cheap, cheap, Acer.  They ruins a promising device with an scrap cam, a scrap stylus, one scrap slow sd-reader, a pair of scrap speakers, weak battery. Even the display has changed from 97% sRGB panasonic to an scrap Chinese 83% sRGB low contrast (700:1) scrap no name brand (wst-3316) in the meanwhile (check this in device manager - perhaps you have luck and one of a few customers with a panasonic screen).

In the case of bright lighting, the picture of the front-cam is satisfactory, but with room lighting the picture noise predominates... no other software can fix this issue, sorry.
