Acer R15, creating usb recovery drive error

I  just got  the Acer R15 refurbished this past week and I'm trying to create a bootable Acer recovery flash drive. I tried following the instructions on the website that say to go to Acer Recovery Management and then click on backup, etc. I tried that, but it doesn't seem to recognize my two PNY turbo flash drives. Both drives are recognized by the laptop and I just bought the16gb one today. What happens is it gets to the part where it tells me to plug in a flash drive of at least 16gb and I did that, but it grays out the "next" button for me to continue the process of creating a recovery drive. I tried both usb 3.0 ports and the usb 2.0 port and that didn't work. I tried leaving the usb drive plugged into a usb 3.0 port before loading the Acer Recovery Management software and it still didn't work.
