How do I use the compass sensor on the Acer Liquid Zest.

According to the specs, the Acer Liquid Zest has a compass sensor.  I can't get the phone to work with any downloadable Compass app because it has no gyroscope sensor.  How do I get the compass sensor to work?

Our documentation shows the Liquid Zest did not ship with a compass or gyro sensor. Some apps require one or both of these to work. If you do have this model phone, please provide the name of the app we can check it on our phone.

The specifications supplied by Staples.ca say it has a compass sensor but it seems it doesn't. See Full Product Details at http://www.staples.ca/en/Acer-Liquid-Zest-5-Unlocked-Smart-Phone-8-GB-HM-HUEAA-002-/product_2508902_2-CA_1_20001.  It is supposed to have Accelerometer, proximity, compass.  It appears to me that Acer supplied Staples with false specifications.  In any case, the phone was a good price so I'm prepared to live without these features.  A little honesty in the future would be appreciated.

I would be interested to hear the results of those discussions.  As someone with no sense of direction, I was counting on that feature.

At one point this phone must have been marketted as having all these sensors.

Even gsmarena has it listed with the exact same sensors.  Maybe the Z525 or the Z528 has these sensors but not both.
