Switch 10 low volume

I have a problem with the sound volume for videos. When I right click on the speaker icon, the only device shown is Intel SST Audio Device (WDM). At full volume, I still can't hear - there is sound (it's not muted) but I can't hear at all.

I found a place where you play a test sound and it's quite loud, so I don't think the speakers are non-functional at all.

I've found this problem with netlflix, youtube, etc. I've tried Chrome, IE and Firefox. I can't watch anything streaming at all, the volume is just SO low.

Ive googled quite a bit and tried updating drivers and such (says they are up to date). Running Windows 10.

Any help greatly appreciated (I searched here too and couldn't find the exact issue). Thanks.

Have you right clicked the volume control and checked the mixer levels for applications etc? Jack E/NJ

Yes I have. They're all set to high and the sound almost cannot be heard at all. Thanks for the reply.

No. says the device is working properly. Which I think I true in that it is capable of playing higher volume, and does, just not while streaming video in a browser. Which was what I bought this machine primarily for, so it's pretty frustrating I can't watch anything on it.

OK. Let's try a few Acer YouTube sound tests. First, using IE, tune to---

Run a few of the videos. With the volumes set to max on both the videos and your machine, the actual volume level from the machine's speakers should NOT be loud, but comfortably heard when nearby. Try it with the other browsers. If the result is the same --- that is comfortably heard at max volume settings --- your audio system seems to be OK. You should also try some YouTube music videos. You will likely find that the volume levels vary greatly --- some are comfortably heard, some loud and some virtually silent. Not much you can do about this except may wear headphones because the sound volume is mainly determined by how the recording was originally made.
